Phillipe Halsman was borin in Riga, Russia. He was born on May 2, 1906 and had died on June 25, 1979 in New York City. When he was 22 he was falsly accused of his fathers murder and was sentenced to 10 years of hard labor/ solitary confinement. When he left he had become associated with Vogue in France and was famous for using sharp focus and closely cropped. He was associated with Albert Einstein and he created six rules: Direct approach, unusual technique, added unusual feature, missing feature, compounded features, literal or iddeographic method. The Picture I chose was taken in 1965 of Barbra Streisand in her own apartment.
For my photo emulation I had used just a regular Iphone camera. For the picture I had used myself as the model, I had used a lamp and put it so it was facing my face in a dark room trying to create a dark background because creating a solid colored one was unavailable to make. I had also just faced the side only showing one side. I had used the black and white filter and also flipped the image so it matched the women in he picture.
Between the picture I feel as though I could have done a better job trying to create a comparison. Some things I could have changed to create more of a comparison was was to have more intense eye make up and really short hair. Another thing I could have changed was the way the black and white filter had looked different than the original picture. Features that were the same was the way the face was facing and the positioning of it.
